The Proverbial Swan

I am learning that a theatre is very much like to proverbial swan, the bit you can see is all calm and serene but underneath its paddling like buggery just to keep going.

This is the contents of the orchestra pit under the stage, in total for this show there are 3 keyboards, 2 guitars, one bass guitar, a drummer, a percussionist, a flute player and a clarinet player. (some are hidden behind the pillars)

The pit also contains 20 radio mic receivers, various amplifiers, CCTVs so the orchestra can see the stage and finally a rack of gadgets and gizmos to get all these signals to the mixing desk at the other end of the building where you will find me.

Its rather chaotic most of the time, its not tidy, and when they are playing its deafeningly loud but none of the matters as long as the audience hears a nice noise.

p.s. the lady on Keys 2 on the left is Mrs Squiffy :-)
