Don't Fret

Haar, or "Sea Fret" on Belhaven Beach, Dunbar. Lors, Jon and I went for a walk along the beach as the haar thinned in the late morning. There were swans in the bay and Jon enjoyed riding my bike off into the mist.

They're off south via Northumberland, where haar is called "sea fret". We wondered for a while how it's formed and thought warm air from the land blowing over the colder sea would cause it. Wikipedia says it's formed over the sea then is "brought to land by wind advection." So, I looked up advection and it basically means moved. Translating for the neds then, haar forms over the sea and the wind blows it in. Most neds, unfortunately, probably don't care about that.

It's Duncan's birthday today and his new Nikon L23 arrived, he's very pleased. It's a lovely thing with various smarts like facial recognition which is very impressive. It also has several presets for sport, landscapes, portraits etc, including a specific setting for food! Hopefully he'll get a shot of his coca-cola-chocolate birthday cake =)

Happy Birthday son.
