The advantage of squirrels having this particular defence mechanism is that they stay still enough for you to fumble with your camera and take a nice portrait of the beast in question ...
although after posing for the image he did ask for payment ... and stated that he was happy to be paid peanuts .. unsalted of course or in fact any kind of nut ;)
