Back when Capitalists were the good guys...

This is New Earswick on the outskirts of York

The industrailist Joseph Rowntree was a good guy - he made great chocolate and was a proper philantrophist. He built this village to house his workers in safety and comfort.

He also built a school; famous ex pupils of which include Mark Addie (Full Monty/Flintstones/Tesco ads actor) and, er, my wife.

The hideous paradox is that Rowntrees in now part of the Nestle conglomerate. They are not the good guys.
