Out (Mid) West

Big Rock....

Sunny but chilly here and went on a trip to meet a cabinet maker.

On the way went to check out the glacial erratic at Okotoks (airport code CFX2). It turns out that this is the biggest erratic in the world (according to the Government of Alberta .. more info here ).

Okotoks comes from the Blackfoot word for rock - Chinook - the warm wind that blows from the west (through adiabatic compression as it descends from high over the Rockies) is Blackfoot for 'snow eater'. The temp can go from -20 to 0 in 2 hours when it blows... however, I digress...)

If you study the photo carefully - you might see the Rockies in the distance. well this rock came from those mountains - only about 200 miles to the North...
