Paddling

We go to the seaside to paddle.

It was a perfect late afternoon and early evening for our kayak trip along the North Cornwall coast from Portreath. That's me in the picture and the photographer was Isabelle with her waterproof camera. No way my camera goes anywhere near a kayak trip!

Conditions were pretty much as benign as they come on the Atlantic coast. Small breakers on the beach for launch and landing (hence the fetching yellow helmet), moderate offshore wind so sheltered in the cliffs. Just had to keep an eye out for the odd bigger swell coming in from the deep, and surprisingly some were quite large, but not a problem so long as we were outside of the break line.

Lots of sea birds sunning themselves on the rocks and plenty of colour in the cliffs. Alas no dolphin spotted today but a lovely trip all the same.
