R.I.P. Joe

The other side of this makeshift memorial says simply, "R.I.P. Joe 2010. Down River" written with a black marking pen. Fishing things hang from the arms. Flies, do they call them? (I know nothing about fishing tackle except the word for it. Tackle. I like that.) I don't know who Joe was, but I bet he would be pleased with this.

Another day of rare and precious sunshine. I went out to Sauvie Island, one of my favorite escapes. I am still in the photographic doldrums. I may give up entirely. But here's one more.

P.S. The white blob behind the trees at the extreme left is Mt. St. Helens, the volcano that erupted in the 80s. It's still covered in snow.
