Bad luck

Two ways to my job place. One is a long way with "fly over bridge" to train tracks and other short way with respect to condition that you find a 'gate of train tracks' open.
Whenever I need to be in hurry, I follow the short path but see the closed gate. What can i say to it other than bad luck.
