Bluebell wood

Happy Easter and St George's Day!

When I had finally found my camera (having mislaid it for two days! A senior moment!), N, T, Tess and I drove to the Bluebell wood for our annual pilgrimage to see the carpets of these fantastic wild flowers. The scent was out of this world and the tall beech trees were now in leaf. A magical place. I went mad with the camera but none of the photographs do the wood justice and they were mostly out of focus! This shot also shows in the left hand corner something that resembles a giant ant hill. It is in fact a bivouac made with a frame of small branches which are piled high to a point with leaves and debris from the woodland floor. The entrance is the other side out of sight. Enough room inside for one person to sit or curl up.
