The Little Lyle Files

Life laundry

Rubbish blip but it is representative of my day.

I spent the morning in our loft clearing out some stuff that was put in there nearly 10 years ago when we moved here and has remained since (just in case we might need it). However, as we are trying to clear the house for the central heating to be replaced, we decided that we need the loft space for storage of stuff that we use rather than stuff we have no intention of using but might want once in a blue moon when all the pigs are flying around the house.

Question - is this just junk or can it be given to a local charity that supplies the needy with household furtniture and appliances?

For example, there are six dining chairs that we used quite happily until we moved here and replaced them with new ones but didn't throw out in case we needed them for large family gatherings, parties etc. We have never used them though as they have been buried under so much stuff in the loft that it would take a morning like this to get them out. We probably wouldn't use them anyway as they now look old and rubbish.

Or what about the perfectly good vacuum cleaner that was more than happily cleaning our old flat but was spurned for a Dyson when we got here?

What about the huge cushions for the old sofa that we thought would come in handy one day???? What day I am not sure but we were at the time (they are definitely junk).

What about the oversized table lamp that would have been out of date in the 80s and was donated by my mum when I left home and I haven't had the heart to ditch.

Anyway, it was worth the effort as the loft is now an accessible and usable space again and we now have room to get in there and sort out the rest of the junk/treasured items that will take a bit of sifting.
