Morning in Stamford

Spent the morning in nearby Stamford - always a pleasant thing to do. Despite its relatively modest population of 18,000, it has 11 churches, 30 pubs and 20 restaurants. The town became a borough in 972 in Saxon times.
The A1 originally ran on a narrow route through the town handling the bulk of Britain's north-south traffic and the situation wasn't relieved until 1960 when the bypass was built shortly after the M1 was opened.

For the record: 16C, sunny periods
