Britain's best bus shelter!

Today I was in Unst, the most northerly inhabited of the British isles. It's a very interesting place, and the weather was lovely for this time of year (just slightly colder than London). The only thing I particularly wanted to see when I was there was the world-famous Unst Bus Shelter. I don't think it's the most northerly bus shelter in the country, but it must be very close. It's certainly the most interesting. Each year they decorate it in a different theme. This year commemorates the return later this year of the Tall Ships Race to Shetland.

How many bus shelters do you know with their own visitors' book? This is actually one of Shetland's most popular tourist attractions. According to their lovely website, some coach trips were making the journey to Unst (involving two ferry trips from the Shetland mainland) just to see this bus stop, then turning round and going back without checking any of the other delights Unst has to offer.

They've even done a bit of guerilla gardening, turning a nearby traffic island into the John Peel Memorial Traffic Island. Lovely.
