THE Wedding

18months 8 days

Yes, today we went to a party. To watch, enjoy and celebrate THAT wedding. The start of the day didnt go as planned - we woke up to a broken and leaking boiler. So no nice relaxing bath as we got leisurely ready, after without panic making the food. Instead it was chaos of attempting to get enough warm water to wash Katie, tame my wild bed hair and throw the food together whilst the landlord arrived to look at the boiler, and I was still in my dressing gown! Ah, all fun and games!

The day's been brilliant, it's been so much fun. All the mums and children were dressed up, there was about 4 families from the 'young mums' (as the church calls us, aren't they kind, we're all almost 30 or there already!) The children and all us mums got dressed for the occasion, hair pieces, makeup, best frocks and all. Even Monkey wore a tie, special made for the occasion.

The children did colouring sheets, made crowns, played beautifully, and the little girls all got very excited to 'see the princess'. In fact, the big girls did too. What a princess she made. I loved the little moments that just peaked into the fact that this to a lot of them was still 'just' a family moment. Kate and her dad both visibly shaking as they walked down the aisle, a little look of complete pride from Prince Charles when William walked in for the first time, Harry telling his brother how stunning Kate looked before William had turned to see her. Prince Charles picking Camilla's little granddaughter up on the balcony and fussing her like any proud Grandad.

I really enjoyed the whole occasion. The excitement, fun, happiness of being with friends, a room of 80 people of different ages all getting into the spirit, singing the hymns, clapping the couple, and watching the children dancing, playing and having a fantastic time. We've got 6 between us,and these six are so loving, affectionate and protective of each other. There wasn't a single falling out in the whole 5 hours.

There was a huge buffet, thanks to everyone bringing loads of food and then the children had a lot of fun running around with the balloons, streamers and crowns. The mums posed with "William" and "Kate" - a lifesize cut out someone had got for us!

Right, we're off to have a bath now! We're borrowing a friends. Hurrah!
