DIGNITY

I don't know about you - but I watched the Royal Wedding today.

The dignity inside Westminster Abbey, to the magnificent procession of horses accompanying the Royal party back to Buckingham Palace afterwards was a reminder of what we here in the UK continue to do well.

This evening I read a fascinating and insightful online article by Simon Doonan in Slate

Simon's work and editorial background is unknown to me however he truly hit the nail on the head when he asked 'Could the elegant Royal Wedding signal the end of porno chic?'

He elaborated further when he observed; 'As I watched her sailing down the aisle like a romance novel heroine, a serious question formed itself under that powdered wig of mine. Might the lovely Kate, with her modest allure, her natural bosom and her quiet mystery, have the power to stem the flood of boob-jiggling hooker style which has engulfed not just fashion, but our entire culture? Could April 29, 2011 mark the beginning of a whole new era of elegant restraint?
