Cockatoo

Wild sulphur crested cockatoo feeding on some seed at my parent's house. Every day between 2 and 10 cockatoos, with occasional rainbow lorikeets, drop in for a snack in the afternoon.

Cockatoos have always been seen in Australian towns and cities, but numbers seemed to have increased in recent years due to long term droughts. The birds migrate to the coastal towns because its greener with more food. Where I live its common to see flocks of them feeding on grass seeds on the grass strips dividing main roads.

It gets interesting when the lorikeets turn up as they can be quite aggressive and hunt away the cockatoos, even though the cockatoos are much larger.
