Rather A Lot Of Caterpillars

Had a bit of a 'Hey, what's th- OH MY GOD' moment upon spying this settlement of tent caterpillars. I mean I love caterpiddlers but this was quite startling. Here's another view.

According to Wiki these tent caterpillars (three guesses as to why they're called 'tent' caterpillars anyone?) will one day grow up to be lackey moths. But in the meantime they're quite remarkable little things. They're very social; they stick together and leave their silk tents en masse to go foraging. Cute.
