Repair Men, Glens of Foudland Windfarm

We took a break from the garden today and headed off around the area, finishing up with a brisk and bracing two-hour walk around the Glens of Foudland Wind Farm.

On our approach, we noticed that 2 of the 20 turbines were out of action, despite the fresh afternoon breeze.

As we followed the track over the brow of a hill, giving us a better view of the whole site, we realised that only one was still not working. We then noticed two white Centrica vans in the middle distance parked beside the remaining inactive turbine.

The hill in the distance in this view of the scene is the Hill of Tillymorgan, nowadays a landmark on the busy A96 road, and a major local source of slate in years gone by.

As we watched, the final turbine also began turning, and shortly after, one by one the vans drove off, the drivers waving as they passed us on the track.
