The park rangers at Castle Fraser had organised an afternoon of "pond dipping" to find creatures in the pond. As they handed out the nets, they gave us the usual friendly safety rules - hold hands, dont step on the reeds, the water is still very cold etc.

It was pretty horrible to look through the viewfinder again and just see the baseball cap on top of the water. It took half a packet of fruit gums, drying off with an old oily towel and dressing up in all the spare bits of fleece in the car then cranking the heater up to 11 before I dared make a joke about catching fish in his wellies.
