Performance Art

Requires some explanation.

Our local Cameron Art Museum is hosting a contemporary art exhibit for artists from North Carolina. Guest curators from the Guggenheim, London's Tate Modern, and San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art & Fine Arts Museum were on hand to great each artist and hang the works.

Several hundred showed up at the appointed time and created a bit of chaos. But there was wine and live music to calm us while we waited our turn to get registered.

So while relaxing patiently I spotted this interesting work. No, it's not the colorful pink tote with white towel. It's the... not exactly sure... if that's a torah or lost dead sea scroll, but the artist apparently had enough left over material to make a pair of matching sandals. It would show great if we lopped off the foot just above the ankle and suspended it out from the colorful cylinder on a coat hanger wire. And I suppose the red wine in plastic cup could stay as an added dynamic element.
(But we'll definitely have to loose the new balance sneaker in the background.)
