Afternoon Tea

As an early* surprise for mother's day, Martine and her sister Jannie treated their mother and the entire family to an afternoon tea in the Tea Factory: a tea museum and restaurant in Houwerzijl. This is very close to where Martine's dad Reender was living in his childhood. For the British having an afternoon tea might not be that special, for the Dutch that's quite different. In fact, I can safely say that this was my first afternoon tea ever. This picture was taken by Martine.

After tea we went to the small harbour of Zoutkamp for a walk. Then it was time to head back home for a quiet evening. Tomorrow more family fun with a barbecue at my inlaws.

I backblipped yesterday; the last day at The Efteling!

* Mother's Day in Holland is on Sunday, May 8th.
