Greatest Computer Ever

There is no doubt.

Okay, so my android phone has more processing power than the original Amiga. And better sound, faster graphics, internet access...

But in 1985 the Amiga was a multimedia powerhouse running a Unix-like operating system that left every other computer on the market selling for less than the price of a car for dead.

The secret was specially designed hardware, including an early example of a GPU, that allowed the CPU (the same as used in the Mac of the time) to concentrate on the boring stuff. It's hard to know exactly when
PCs and Macs really caught up with it, but for some things it was the nineties.

This unprecedented coolness was the product of a team lead by Jay Miner, and their pride in their achievement expressed by all signing their names on the underneath of the machine's lid.

The story didn't have a happy ending, of course, but sometimes the best ones don't.
