old & new day 6

the top two 'slides/negatives' are from the 2nd Boer War, round 1890-1900 and came into our family through certain Captain H A Piggin, via my husbands' dad....they are made of glass. In one of the slides you can see Table Mountain in the background...... just look at the pictureof the soldiers on horseback crossing the river.....
and the old fashioned canon.....and think how that would be translated to today.......

but this is not about warfare..... but the contrast between then & now....even though conflicts are never far from our mind.......

nowadays it's not even the negatives most of us remember.... SD cards are on the way out as well.......

all this makes me think so much about what really is of lasting value in life.......
