True Blue

Aquilegia - a cottage garden favourite, also known as Granny's Bonnet and Columbine.

They can at times look like an incredibly over fancy, over-blown artificial flower and others can be very pretty indeed. Take your pick!

Happy in sun or a shady woodland border, they are a longlasting flower when cut. Cultivated in Europe and North America since the 1600's, they are not difficult to grow.

After closer inspection this morning, I'm very glad to say the bluebells in our woods are English and not Spanish. Would they be anything else?!
