Ne'er a cross word

So, today after work I took the train all the way to Newcastle-upon-Tyne to spend the weekend with some very good friends.

One of these friends was travelling on the train from London at the same time as me, so we helped each other out with the crossword (by SMS) which was fun.

Sitting opposite me for half the journey was a woman who had found out a handful of hours earlier that her father had died that afternoon and she was on her way to Glasgow to be with her mother and sisters. We chatted for a long time - I hope she found if useful unloading onto a complete stranger. I also hope she and her family get through the coming weeks ok. Puts things into perspective somewhat.
