Unwelcome Guest

Well if there's a prize for most disgusting blip of the day, I might just be in with a chance. In case you don't recognise what you're looking at in the above picture ... it's my youngest son's leg with a teeny, tiny tick embedded in it, feasting on his blood (apologies if you're eating as you read this).

Probably while trudging through damp ferns along the side of Loch Lomond on Saturday, this little beast decided to hitch a ride and wasn't even discovered until Sunday night. Apparently removing them with tweezers isn't advisable, so after speaking with our local pharmacist, he was driven over to a children's hospital in Glasgow to have it removed and cleaned.

My son seems fine - no nasty diseases passed on thankfully. He found the whole thing hilarious and discovered it was a great opportunity for scaring girls!

Long trousers on the next Saturday afternoon walk, I think.
