Meanderings Through Life

1475

Today I met friends here, the Old Queen's head. This figure was originally on the outside of the building at the corner of the window, and though the window is still there, it's now indoors. There are 2 others at the other side of the building.
It was built in 1475 as a banqueting house for the residents of Sheffield Castle when they were out hunting, and was probably used by Mary Queen of Scots while she was incarcerated in the city. The pub is named after her.
