Boundary Dwellers

small is beautiful

The mosses in Galloway are much, much more pleasing than the Forestry Commission trees that darken the hills. Can someone explain why it is that block planting and clear cutting seem still to be the name of the game? Surely there would be a lot more continuous work (and money in the region) if they thinned and replanted continuously.

But we did enjoy our walk along the fringe of the forestry in Glen Trool today - birch, ash, oak; light, wind, rain; FLOWERS!!!
