Gare de Nice Ville

Today was all about trains, or the lack of them.

After a pleasant evening in Nice and a good night's rest the wee man and I made our way to the station in plenty of time to catch the 12.28 train to Marseille, from where we would catch an onward TGV to Lyon. Only one problem - no 12.28 train to Marseille, cancelled due to a strike.

After a few enquiries and a bit of queuing at the ticket desks, we managed to get ourselves transferred to the next train to Marseille, a slow train which took an hour longer than the originally booked train, and then a revised booking for the onward trip to Lyon, albeit with an upgrade to the first class carriage, ensuring we arrived in Lyon in style.

So the upshot was an extra hour waiting at the Gare de Nice Ville, an extra hour on the train to Marseille and an arrival in Lyon two hours later than planned. No bg drama - all part of the adventure!
