Walk The Wight

Today was 'Walk the Wight' day here. Which is an annual charity event in aid of a local hospice. People are sponsored to walk from one side of the island to the other - which is about 26 miles in total - or complete sections within that distance.

For the last 3 years my little daughter has done the Schools Walk the Wight, where they can cover the 26 mile distance by doing walks to school etc, but this year we decided to do part of the main walk to keep a friend of mine company.

We started at Carisbrooke, the start of the second stage, with the aim of getting to the end which would be about 14 miles. Quite an undertaking for a 6 year old, but i'm mean like that :)

In the end we made it about 10 miles. This shot was taken at the end of our journey at Freshwater Bay, and looks towards the final hill (Tennyson Down). No medal for us this year, but little-un did good!

Next year!
