Syttende Mai

Today is Norway's national day.

And every year Norwegians in Edinburgh hold a parade and have a short service of thanks beside the large rock memorial in princes street garden.

It's such a colourful and happy occasion, with many of them dressed in their national costume.

I missed it all last year just by a few minutes, but this year I was determined to be there in plenty time. In fact we were there long before the first of the Norwegians showed up.
