France! (Sort of)

OK, so terminal 2E of Charles de Gaulle airport is striking. It would be even more so if it were climate controlled, and didn't smell vaguely of an old linen closet (the musty kind, not the pleasantly cedar-y kind).

And while I'm griping, what's with Air France serving only Pepsi soft drinks? Is this a French thing, like Jerry Lewis? (Or like Germans and David Hasselhof? Or Americans and anyone sired by a movie star?) Or is this just Air France's thing? Seems like everywhere else I go in Europe (admittedly, not a lot of places) institutions are pretty strictly Coca-Cola pushers.

Plus, I challenge the airline to serve one meal without using anything from a cow -- or even to serve one dish that uses nothing from a cow. This flight's breakfast featured bread with butter *and* cheese, some kind of drinkable yogurt slurry, and cookies that listed butter as constituting 18% of their weight!

Otherwise, great flight, with a little more legroom than KLM had going the other direction. I think I'm just cranky after traveling more than 14 hours.
