A Message from Seward

Found this sign while driving through Seward, AK. Brought a chuckle... especially in today's political climate. It's a nice moderate sized fishing village that gets busy with tourists in the summer. Lots of birds, and is the launching point for those with boats into Resurrection Bay. Named after the William H Seward who was the Secretary of State under President Lincoln. Seward negotiated the purchase of Alaska from Russia that was ridiculed at the time (called "Seward's Folly"). Alaskan's celebrate Seward's Day on the last Monday in March to commemorate the signing of the purchase treaty (March 30, 1867).
