Crosshead

View of the valve gear of a steam locomotive at the Lakeside & Haverthwaite railway in Cumbria. For those who might be interested, it's from a 2-6-4 tank locomotive, number 42073, designed by Charles Fairburn, which used to run London commuter services. The crosshead is attached to the end of the piston rod and slides up and down in the slide bars.
