Blue flags

Started today by running the local parkrun again - only my second time. Managed to beat my last time by a few seconds but found it hard to keep going between the 3rd and 4th kilometers. Pleased to have done it though and had lots of help from husband who acted as pacemaker and general encourager again.

Walked into town along the river (back past the parkrun course) and canal. Lovely sunny afternoon with lots of people enjoying the green space on the river bank and the river itself.

The canal side was quite quiet - there was a big raid on the local drug dealers last week and the usual runners with their walkie talkies were nowhere to be seen. They never bother us and it is amusing to see the queue of shifty people hanging around waiting for their packages to be delivered. However, they have hassled son number one and his friends sometimes - asking if they want to buy. No doubt they will be back before long.

The lady in the photo was in the town centre selling all kinds of flags, T shirts and foam hands for supporters of our local football team. They are in the play-offs for the premier league again in a couple of week's time. The flags were really taking off in the breeze. She didn't have many customers though - the team have been in the same situation several times recently with no success.
