Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker

Today we visited this museum in Franeker. Eise Eisinga was an 18th century man who was very interested in math and astronomy. He built a huge orrery in his house that operated from the attic on his livingroom ceiling below. All of the gears are made of wood with metal pins. The whole thing is driven by a pendulum clock. You can't take photos inside so I'm using one I took of the building. It is an amazing achievement and great fun to see. If you are ever in the area I recommend it.
