Gruffy Ground

Walking the Wessex Walk today, in the wind - 18 miles from school to Wells - passing through the very beautiful and beautifully named Velvet Bottom - which is an area of former lead mining, mined as far back as the Romans, when this was pretty barren, a poisoned and poisonous land. Beautiful now, verdant green.
