Common blue

Nothing obliged at lunchtime today. I saw a bright cinnabar moth, but it would not settle. The same thing happened with a white butterfly, and then this flew off before I could get close, so it's heavily cropped I'm afraid.

The common blue Polyommatus icarus is the commonest blue butterfly in most of Europe. This is actually a female. The males are blue all over and the females are usually mainly brown, but this is a particularly bright one.

The holly blue has also been quite common this spring, but the common blue is more abundant now.

The apples in my garden are getting quite big already and the broad beans, peas, runner beans and potatoes are all looking good too.
