Tomaaaatoes

Friday before Bank Holiday over. Walked up to meet C at Institute of Education bar and came upon this host of French tomatoes in a box outside The People's Supermarket on Lamb's Conduit Street.

C can't believe I didn't actually buy any of these delights as recommended by Raymond Blanc, but I was too busy blipping to even contemplate a purchase. It must be a blip thing.

Tomato 1753, earlier tomate (c.1600), from Sp. tomate (mid-16c.) from Nahuatl tomatl "a tomato," lit. "the swelling fruit," from tomana "to swell."
