Dinghy race

I had a lunchtime picnic with my wife down at Port Taranaki today and was treated to some 420 dinghy racing between some of the members of the New Plymouth Yacht Club. The 420 and OK Dinghy 2008 National Championships are being held here over the Easter weekend, so I think they were getting in some practice before the event.

The tanker in the background is the Akama. It is used to transport high grade crude oil to refineries in Sydney and Brisbane from the FPSO vessel Umuroa which is stationed at the recently commissioned Tui Area Oil Fields which lie off the coast of Taranaki.
