Fierce Panda

I've not been out much today, a panda has broken into the house and we're hiding in the cellar until it finishes off the bamboo and heads on it's merry way.

Fierce Panda formed in the mid 90's and released a series of highly sought after EP's, starting off around the time of the New Wave of New Wave and then giving a few bands a foot up into britpop mini-stardom (Ash, Supergrass and The Bluetones are the most famous names). I snapped up a lot of the 7"s they released and it felt genuinely exciting at the time, but looking through their discography you can see how poor indie music really was in those post-britpop days, although I still hold a soft spot for Kenickie and Tiger had a couple of gems. The most famous fierce panda act in recent times is probably Death Cab for Cutie. Unfortunately Fierce Panda were also responsible for releasing the first material by Coldplay, Keane and Embrace, so they can hardly be listed up there with the greats.
