Raaaaaaiiiiiiiiin

I thought of this as the skies opened. I haven't heard that for years.

After yesterday's intense heat, today the weather went a bit mental. It got darker than it has for ages and then it poured. G had rigged a tube to nick the run off from one of the roofs and divert it into a water butt - alternative measures had to be deployed as the 60 litre barrel filled in a matter of minutes. The terrace is now covered in an assortment of full watering cans and buckets.

And it's still raining.

Although it's not really cooled anything down - I went out to get bread and it's still very warm out there.

Today's Blip is just the rain - it has been so long since I've seen any and this is pretty proper stuff.

In other news, there was a really good firework display over in Schierstein last night. Of course I knew nothing about it until I heard the first bangs. Still, after that it was really nice to stand outside at 11 at night and watch. About 20 minutes of activity all finished off with some very impressive rockets.
