Gilbert and George

Here are Gilbert and George signing my copy of their latest book after I'd just seen them at the hay literary festival.
They were one of the highlights, giving a very funny talk, each of them bubbling over with chatter and enthusiasm as they talked about their life and work, something that I found unexpected but wonderful.
We were also treated to a performance of their new work which involves newspaper billboard headlines collected over 5 years from the London Evening Standard and local London papers.
These were obtained by George entering the newsagents and asking for a Mars bar whilst Gilbert swipes the poster from the stand.
They ended up with a lovely singing statue performance of 'underneath the arches'!
Wonderful.
