Away for a week and this has appeared in the town centre. The idea is that visitors can sit on the seat to have their photo taken to mark their visit to the town. There's a plaque to explain all this, apparently this idea is springing up all over the place. There's also a list of all the plants surrounding the seat, should you be interested. I'm assuming there isn't a professional photographer on hand, you have to rely on someone else to take the shot.

Perhaps this is a posh version of the time at seaside resorts when you could have your photo taken by sticking your head through a cardboard picture of something horrendous!
