Out on the bike again this morning, this time to meet one of the Sustrans national officials to discuss what I might do in addition to route maintenance, since I have a bit of time on my hands. 'Habitat management' for wildlife looks like a possibility, and maybe helping to organise corporate volunteering. In the meantime I've said I'd write an article on the railway history of the Edinburgh cycle routes - many of the routes in north Edinburgh were previously railway lines. Unfortunately south Edinburgh is too hilly for trains, so I don't benefit locally :(
