Chew Chew!

Sometimes the events of the day have a nice way of dovetailing, and today was one of those days.

You're looking at the interior of the very small Choo Choo Grill, which is a Grand Rapids landmark. I've heard it said that if you haven't been here, you are not permitted to live in Grand Rapids :). It's located along a railroad and its decor reflects that.

The building started its life as an office for a coal yard, but since 1946 has been operating as a restaurant offering breakfast and lunch (they close at 4:00 p.m.). They are particularly known for burgers, grilled on their seasoned grill.

It's one tiny room that includes the grill, ten seats at the counter, and two booths, and it's a wonderful neighborhood spot. My son and I had lunch here today and discussed whether to write it up for our restaurant review blog. We decided instead to compile information on a lot of burger places and write it up as one posting.

Why, do you ask, is she going into so much detail? Our blog got a mention late this afternoon by the online version of our local newspaper and naturally, we're pretty excited about that :)

Blog Mention
Choo Choo Exterior (sorry, I cut the roof off a bit)

So cheers to happy eating, and I hope you have all dined well today!
