Indigants

Not quite sure what was going on in Placa Catalunya today - well, it seems to have been going on a while - an encampment of demonstrators who have veiled the statues in protests and made a tent village. Initially we thought it was the indigants, about whom we were reading in a Spanish newspaper in the clinic. (Practising Spanish here is not easy - everyone defaults to English), but this camp village appears to have multiple reasons for protest. Animal testing, sexuality, Aghanistan, employment, and many others we couldn't understand. The residents have even planted a garden on the square with lettuces. Most incongruous.

Needless to say, there is a strong police presence with guns, as usual, and big alsatians with cages over their mouths. A bit sinister. We can't work out whether this demonstration is gently guarded or about to the the subject of police brutality.
