We went to the village of Heydon. A 'private' village in North Norfolk with (according to my mother who is well up on these things!) an intriguing family history involving illegitimate heirs, premature death and scandal.

It is a beautiful, untouched, unspoilt village with a pub (The Earle Arms) and a tea room (eat your heart out Fawlty Towers) and some interesting cattle.

My cold is stabilising. I feel crap and the big lunch and couple of glasses of wine at least provided a temporary anaesthetic if not a cure.
