Ascension Day

A Bank Holiday in all of Germany, however commonly called Fathers Day or Mans Day and is associated with groups of men either hiking with a hand trailer filled with beer or with some form of transport (horse, carriage, bike, tractor etc) to go from pub to pub and down a few.
My wife & I had invited her father, Sepp (Bavarian for Joseph) to stay for a few days and we went to the Swabian Farmhouse Museum at Illerbeuren which is about 20 miles away. It was an interesting day but we actually saw little of the inside of the various houses as the place was packed - the largest building insurance company in Bavaria had given out thousands of free tickets (we also had them) to celebrate its 200th anniversary.

On the way home I insisted that we stopped off at the Kleines Brauhaus (Small Brewery) in Ottobeuren for a pint of their own brew to celebrate Fathers Day. We had never been there before. Pint turned out to be two and I slept very well that night. The photo is of Sepp saying farewell to a few of the locals.
