C'est une belle vie

The road to Juba.

The distance between Yei and Juba is 90 miles but it takes anywhere between 3-5 hours to drive between the two cities because of the road conditions. This road is in better condition than it was a year ago, but it's still tough on a car.

Leaving Yei today was an adventure because the city's gas station was out of petrol! We purchased gas from people on the streets selling small quantities in jerry cans, milk containers, and coke bottles. When we arrived in Juba, we realized Juba is almost out of gas, too. The price is now over $20/gallon!

Basic needs, such as gas to power a car, or clean water to drink and bathe in, are still difficult to come by in this region of the world. In the future, I won't take the gas station having a ready supply of gas for granted!

I'm honored to be traveling here on behalf of and with East African Ministries, an organization motivated by our Christian faith, to support clean water, health care, and leadership development in South Sudan.

More on Juba later!
