On a mission

We've enjoyed today. She slept through! 6.30 til 5.30 this morning. Really happy with that for now. We'll work on getting it past 6am, but I'm not complaining at 11 hours straight. We got ready to go out and she decided we werent going straight to tea and toast, we were going to see the ducks. The ducks, thankfully, wanted to be seen. There were quite a few on the little pond then a whole load more came too. She asked me for bread but I dont carry it "just in case", so they had to make do with squished up crackers. They seemed happy with that!

We did head off for tea and toast and she had a good play whilst there was only one other child. When the others all arrived, she got a bit shy and clingy and wouldnt move from my knee for quite a lot of the time. She was also a bit confused because someone's bought their child a monkey exactly the same as Katie's, because their child liked Katie's, so Katie spent all the time with it, saying "Katie's" whenever someone tried to put it away. But she had fun still and even ate some chocolate fudge cake, which she's previously rejected.

We got home and were met by a few parcels - two I was expecting, and one with some lovely surprises from a friend. Katie loves opening post now so she was very pleased. She went down for her sleep and although two minutes before she'd beeen playing away, she was asleep before I'd walked out the room.

I had to wake her up from her sleep and put her in the car. We went for a swim with Ava and her mummy. We had a few minutes just her and I, so when she saw Ava from across the pool she was really excited. There was a baby swimming class happening whilst they were swimming and the girls were a little muddled. They had a fabulous time just being able to play and enjoy being in the water and being together. They spent ages jumping on and off a float mat, Katie was doing lots of reverse twist entries in to the water from it and was getting rather cocky! She decided to try surfing on the float. And managed it. They had a play in the boat and were both entirely less than impressed when they had to give someone else a turn! They were doing loads of fabulous swimming in their arm bands. And then when they spotted their swimming teacher instructing an aqua aerobics class, they sat laughing and copying. Of course, shower time was a big hit too and they both stood there asking for more or telling us off if we didn't turn it back on quick enough!

And yes - Katie has spent the day wearing her wellies with her pretty dress. But it paid off. After swimming there were fabulous puddles so she could splash!
